Scientific Water Quality Assesments

 For the past 25 years HWPA has paid for the services of a highly regarded limnologist, Scott Williams, to collect water quality measures on both ponds and produce a report that provides longitudinal analyses both over time and with statewide data, to create an ongoing assessment of water quality. The 20+ page biennial reports produce a detailed picture of the environmental health of our ponds over time and in relation to other lakes and ponds across Maine. Measures from these reports include Secchi disk transparency, total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, water color, water temperature, and dissolved oxygen. Sightings of algae blooms are also detailed.
